Obituary of Abie Schneider

Abie Schneider, 94, passed away peacefully December 6th 2023. He was born in Hebron, North Dakota on August 1st 1929. He was raised with 4 brothers and 4 sisters living on numerous farms as the family migrated West, finally settling in the lower Yakama Valley. He married Barbara Gagner in 1951 in Prosser Washington, living in Ellensburg and Prosser before settling in Othello in 1960. The Schneider family with 2 children lived East of Othello where Abie was Farm Foreman on the WSU Research Farm. After his retirement from WSU he drove a truck delivering potato machinery for Ag Country, the local Lockwood dealer. His second and final retirement came about 10 years later, living on a 5 acre farm West of Othello. He spent his remaining years going to farm sales, trade shows and refinishing farm equipment and furniture. Abie was preceded in death by wife Barbara, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by one sister, son Michael of Reedsport Oregon, daughter Kathy Andrews of Seattle along with two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Coventry House and the staff for their care of Abie these last 2 years and Assured Hospice staff for their service these last 9 months.
