Orville “Butch” Eldon Tenney
Born May 29, 1944, in Ellensburg, WA and died July 19, 2023, at home in Othello, WA from COPD.
Butch leaves behind wife Leonarda “Lennie” Tenney of 38 years in addition to children: Jeanie, David, Rachel, Melinda, and Monica, 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Butch attended Ellensburg High School (a couple of years anyway) and enjoyed his early years as a cowboy, bucking bales and raising heck with his brothers: Martin “Duff”, and twins Stephen “Denny” and Leland “Peewee” Tenney. He married Carol Bromley in 1964, had children Jeanie and David, and divorced approximately 1971. He married Leonarda in 1984, raised Arturo and Jennifer, Rachel and had Melinda and Monica.
A jack of many trades: Butch worked as a traveling salesman, exterminator, handyman, truck driver and worked in the cement industry in Othello. His last successful long-term career was that of a stay-at-home Dad.
Butch lived life to the fullest for most of his adventurous life, only getting sick the last few years. A green thumb with an impressive garden of vegetables. He was a resourceful, self-assured, likeable, land-on-his-feet man. The stories of his exploits could take months and include many smiles and fond (and maybe a few eyebrow-arching) memories.
A service is tentatively planned for September 2, 2023, in Othello, WA. Location TBD. Please send pictures and stories of Butch to (email) to share at the Celebration of Life.
Instead of flowers and cards, please donate to The American Lung Association in his name.
