Obituary of Alta Fullmer
Please share a memory of Alta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alta Fullmer, of Othello WA passed away on July 4, 2023. She was 82
years old. Alta was born to William (Bill) and Verna Christiansen on February 18, 1941 in Blackfoot Idaho. Alta had 3 siblings, brother Jay and sisters
Rhea and Vida. She attended school in Blackfoot, graduating from
Blackfoot High School. Alta was involved in 4-H during her youth,
showing and selling prize winning steers at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
Alta was married to Max Glenn Fullmer on March 6, 1959 in the Idaho
Falls Temple and the couple resided in the Blackfoot area for the next
few years, welcoming daughter Brenda and son Bart to the family
during that time. Alta then moved with the family in 1965 to Moses
Lake Washington where Max worked for American Potato. The family
then moved to Kennewick Washington in 1973 when Max took a job
managing a new potato processing plant for Rogers Brothers Inc. They
then moved to Shelley Idaho in 1977 when Max was transferred to
oversee Rogers Brothers operations in Idaho. In 1980 they moved to
Othello WA when Max took a job with P.J. Taggares Company, where
Alta lived until her passing. Alta occasionally worked in the potato processing plants, but was at most times a stay at home mom. She enjoyed crafting, especially candle making, needlepoint and crocheting. She always had a love for roses and grew them wherever she lived. Alta was an excellent cook
and anyone who visited for any length of time was sure to leave well
fed. At Christmas time Alta would make chocolates, peanut brittle and
other treats for friends, neighbors and Max’s colleagues and no one has
yet been able to make a raspberry freezer jam as good as hers. Alta
took special joy in visiting the Oregon coast in the summers. Every year
for many years she and Brenda would stay there for a couple weeks
and enjoy the sound of the ocean and cool breeze. As grandchildren
and eventually great grandchildren came along, these trips became
whole family affairs and brought us all some of our fondest memories.
Alta was a member of The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She
served in the primary and relief society and was often asked to lead
crafting projects for the Relief Society. Alta was always available to provide help or food for weddings and funerals and was always available to feed the missionaries.
Alta is predeceased by her mother Verna, father William, husband
Max, brother Jay and sister Rhea. She is survived by her daughter
Brenda, son Bart, grandson Paul (Stesha), granddaughter Julianne
(Ryan) and great grandchildren Paisley, Parker and Blair.
