Obituary of Lena Hardt

Lena Hardt (Lentz), age 76, of Marlin, WA, passed away on June 26th, 2023, in Othello, WA. Lena was born to Fred and Edna Lentz in Odessa, WA, on June 22nd, 1947. She was raised on the family farm with her older sister, Judy. Lena graduated from Wilson Creek High School in 1965. She then completed a correspondence art course while living and working in Ephrata. Lena married Ron Hardt of Odessa, WA, in 1967. They made their home in Othello, WA. Together they had two children and remained good friends after the divorce in 1987. Some of Lena’s greatest joys and accomplishments were art, sculpting, and photography. Later she founded Lentz Spelt Farms, where she successfully grew and created products made with spelt and other ancient grains. Lena’s pride and joy were her children, grandsons, and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the holidays shared with her family, where there was always much laughter, joking, and playing various games. Lena is survived by her children, Shawn Hardt (Danielle Evans) of Othello, WA, and Nicole (Estevan) Garza of Othello, WA; her grandson, Jesse (Kimberly) Garza of Othello, WA; her two great-grandchildren; her sister Judy (Del) Singer of Spokane, WA, and several nieces and nephews. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eden Lentz, and grandson, Nathan Garza. Memorial services will be held at 1 PM on July 18th, 2023, at the Lighthouse Community Center, 705 E. Juniper St., Othello, WA 99344. Donations made to Greenpeace or Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy in memory of Lena are appreciated.
