Obituary of Lorenzo (Larry) Serna
Lorenzo (Larry) Serna was born to Toribio and Maria Serna on September 5th, 1950 in Raymondville, Texas. Not long after he was followed by his siblings Leonardo, Leonel, Luciano, Reynaldo, Rojelio, Maria Elena, Toribio Jr, Refujio, Ruben, and Rodrigo.
On March 27, 1970 Larry decided to enlist in the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. Although he loved serving his country, on November 24, 1970 Larry was honorably discharged for a family emergency. The needs of those he loved always came first before himself and that never changed for Larry.
Larry and his family traveled many places for work while growing up. They spent a large part of their lives working in fields to provide for the needs they had as a family.
In 1971 Larry and his family moved to Othello, Wa. On June 6th, 1972 Larry married the love of his life Elvira Valdez. Together they had four children, David, Christal, Daniel, and Melissa. Larry worked hard most of his life on a farm. He did mechanical work for everything from combines, tractors, diggers, to basically anything with an engine. He was also a diesel mechanic and worked on many semi-trucks. He helped plow, plant and harvest the fields as well. There was basically nothing he didn't know how to do when it came to farm work.
Larry also loved to go fishing, travel, and work on cars. He loved to fix everything. He spent countless hours teaching his kids and grandkids how to fix anything from a flat tire and changing the oil on their cars to cleaning the vacuum cleaner. He would always say "It's really simple, here let me show you.." That was our beloved Lorenzo. He was a family man and would do anything for his kids and grandkids. He also loved his Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. On February 22, 2022 the Lord decided to take Lorenzo to his heavenly home after a long fight with Covid Pneumonia.
Larry will be deeply missed by all of his family including his grandkids Jasmine, Anthony, Joshua, Lorena, Elijah, Andy, Victoria, Larissa, Samuel, Mikayla, Isaiah and Jeremiah, and his three great-grandkids, Esperansa, Ezekiel, and Conor. Until we meet again Grandpa Larry!
