Obituary of Marie Edwina Lotz

Marie Lotz, age 51, passed away peacefully on December 25th, 2021, surrounded by her husband and children at her bedside, after a courageous battle of cancer. Marie was born in Othello, Washington on August 9th, 1970. Marie met the love of her life, Moses Lopez, at the age of 18 and built a beautiful life together. She had three kids; Audrey Lotz, Nicole Lopez, and Derek Lopez. Marie started working at the young age of 14. She landed a career at the Grant County Conservation District in October 1999, which she dedicated her whole life to, and was later promoted to their Regional Manager. Her ultimate goal was to build a home for the district. With her hard work and dedication, the building is under construction and will be finished in summer 2022. She also took on the role of the lead coordinator of the Othello Sandhill Crane Festival in 2013, which was enjoyed by our community every year. Marie enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, watching them play sports, traveling to her family's Sheep Camp, and spending time with her parents. Marie was very generous, loving, and always put others before herself. Marie was diagnosed with stage-four Breast Cancer with metastasis to the bones in May 2020. Her strength was shown as she endured multiple surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. Marie was a true warrior, as she fought hard each day until her last. Marie is preceded in death by her Father, John Lotz; Brother, Jesse White; Grandparents, Anna and Melvin Metzer; Uncle, Doug Lotz; Aunt, Carlota Aden; Cousin, Julia Laufenberg. Marie is survived by her husband, Moses Lopez; Daughters, Audrey Lotz and Nicole Lopez; Son, Derek Lopez; Mother, Carol Lotz; Brother, Melvin Lotz; Son-in-law, Eric Pineda; Daughter-in-law Aubrietta Lopez; Sister-in-law, Michelle White, and Chandra Lotz; Grandchildren, Alazne, Amerie, EJ, Odyssey, Wesley, Genesis, and Alyria; Aunts, Gloria Kanenwisher and Jessica Jahns; Uncle, Eldon Metzer; and numerous cousins, friends, and coworkers.
