Obituary of Delbert Nield

Delbert Nield (Sept. 20, 1929 – March 18, 2020) Delbert Nield, 91 of Othello Washington, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 18, 2021 at his home. Delbert was born September 20, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Lenard and Orlean Lovina Morgan Nield. He was raised and worked on the family farm and attended schools in Ammon Idaho, graduating from Ammon High School in 1947, where he loved to play basketball and football. He married the love of his life Darline Passey on May 21, 1948 in the Idaho Falls Temple and have been happily married for 73 years. Delbert and Darline lived in Ammon Idaho, Victor Montana and moved and made their home in Othello Washington where they raised their 8 children. Delbert ran a potato farm and warehouse for a number of years before becoming involved in the trucking industry. He managed GO Trucking, which eventually led him to start his own trucking company, Nield Trucking. Delbert always enjoyed driving trucks and was a friend to all he met while traveling to different locations. As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he had the opportunity to serve faithfully in various church callings. He enjoyed attending the temple and was actively involved in indexing and family history. He had a testimony of the gospel and deeply loved his family in which his posterity continues to grow. Delbert enjoyed going for spontaneous rides, always taking the long way so he could see more of the country with his family. One of his greatest joys was watching his children and grandchildren participate in all their activities. He was a coach for the Othello Little League where his teams won many tournaments. Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Darline Passey Nield of Othello Washington; daughters, Sandra (Reid) Haroldsen of Pasco Washington, Torrie Ramon of Othello Washington, Kim Wall of Othello Washington; sons, Anthony Nield of Ceres, California, Roger (Janeal) Nield of Lewisville Idaho; daughters-in-law Diana (Keary) Nield, Lisa (Allen) Nield, grandchildren –great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, siblings Renae (Dean) Jaques, Steve Nield. He was preceded in death by his parents; Lenard and Orlean Nield; siblings, Rex (Bev) Nield, Bonnie (Wade) Scott, Doris (Joe) Gardner; children, Keary Nield, Allen Nield, Connie (Abby) Rodriguez; son-in-law, Ken Wall; grandson, Josh Ramon and great-grandson Lincoln Rodriguez.
