Obituary of Garland "Gary" Walton
Garland “Gary” Walton, age 69, of Connell, Washington,
passed away July 11, 2017. He was born in Townsend,
Montana on October 17, 1947. Gary graduated from St.
Regis High School and received his degree from Western
Technical College. He was married to Mary Ann Duran on
November 09, 1968. They raised two daughters and
enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Mary Ann passed away
August 11, 2012. Gary worked as a telephone repairman
for Centurylink from 1978 to 2010. He had served the City
of Connell for 34 years, 14 of them he was the Mayor.
He was a member of many groups threw the years:
Knights of Columbus, volunteer fireman, reserve
policeman, helped with the high school’s Eagle Nest,
Community Action Connections in Pasco, Health
Department, and helped with Junior Live Stock Show just
to name a few. He was an active member of the St.
Vincent’s Catholic Church, and he had a passion for
fishing, hunting and wood working. Gary was
hardworking, creative, cheerful, and well loved by the
community, he never knew a stranger. He will be dearly
missed. He was survived by his special friend Irene Pena
of Connell, Washington, daughter, Melissa(Manuel
Aragon) Walton of Denver, Colorado, and his siblings
Jack(Kathy) Walton of Missoula, Montana, Carol(George)
Phillips Of Kalamath Falls, Washington, Kathleen(Greg)
Ericsson of Port Orchard, Washington, and Pauline
Fichtenberg of Spokane, Washington.
Gary also leaves behind 6 grandchildren to cherish his
loving memory. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Mary Ann Walton, his parents Homer and Doris Walton,
his daughter Barbara Koepl and his brother Leroy Walton.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm, with a
Rosary at 6:00 pm, Thursday, July 20, 2017, at St.
Vincent’s Catholic Church. Mass will be Held at 11:00 am,
Friday, July 21, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church. To
