Obituary of Gorgie Valdez

Gorgie Valdez, of Othello, Washington went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 30, 2017 with his family by his side. Born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on April 13, 1937 to Jose and Mary (Martinez) Valdez. Gorgie married the love of his life Karen Lee Evans on November 15, 1962. They lived in Othello until 1966 when they moved to Seattle where Gorgie was a welder for Green Way Aluminum. In 1974 the family moved back to Othello where Gorgie worked in agriculture. He spent his life loving big. He was an avid hunter (deer, elk, pheasant, ducks and fishing). He also loved gardening. Every year his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews (whoever he could round up) would help him plant his one acre garden (by hand) over Memorial weekend. He would share its bounty with family, friends and the community. He is remembered by his: children, Linda (Valdez) Sierra, Othello, Washington, Adelita (Valdez) Joe Amedure, Brooklyn, New York and Stepson Terry (Kelly) Reynolds, Othello, Washington, brother, Salvador (Caroline) Valdez, Pasco, Washington, and sisters, Belen Valdez, Kent, Washington and Marie (Lupe) Zaragoza, Othello, Washington. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Lee (Evans) Valdez and daughter, Cynthia (Valdez) Rodgers. A viewing will be on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, Washington. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Othello Nazarene Church. Interment will follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello, Washington.
